Care for Education Volunteers have been implementing “Home Based Learning” project to support primary schools students to improve their English Language Skill. This project is funded by Street Child UK.
The child friendly material was developed by OPEnE organization based in Madu, Sri Lanka and distributed in flash drives by our volunteers. Due to the limited access to formal education and internet facilities, home based learning using flash drives in their television is encouraged in our approach. As part of the project, our volunteers who will be supporting and monitoring the learning progress were trained through participatory approach on July 29, 2020. The participatory approach has enabled the volunteers to learn how the trainer was guiding the students. The training was conducted by OPEnE staff. This pilot project is being implemented in three schools from Puthukkudiyiruppu Divisional Secretariat in Mullaitivu Educational Zone. Students from M/ Sri Subramaniam Vidyasalai, M/Viswanathar Primary School and M/Udayarkattu Government Tamil Mixed School are being provided with USB Flash Drives. Our sincere thanks to all the students, parents, principals, zonal director, Care for Education volunteers, OPEnE staff and STREET CHILD UK for their support for this project.
